Have you recently seen RRR? or Avatar? or Bahubali? Were you thrilled by the action and drama? Do you want to create like that? IF yes, you should join multimedia industry. This industry involves in it may fields like films, television, cinema, animation, visual effects, sound engineering and so on. Gaming has become another field in this industry. In this blog, we will talk about animation industry and related fields.
How do you know if you are suitable for this area?
Relax. Keep yourself calm. Get free from all the pressures for a time being. Sit alone. Then, think upon the following questions and try to find their answers:
- Do you like to imagine things which are wonderful, colourful, of a different world?
- Do you like to create beautiful paintings? And, such a creation gives you satisfaction and happiness?
- Do you like game designs and want to create one?
- Can you visualize things in 3D and their details?
- Do you want to do something different than the regular jobs?
- Do you want to work with famous animation companies?
- Do you like special effects in movies?
- Do you like 3D movies with VR? And want to create one with your own imagination?
- Do you want to create objects unique to your imagination?
- You want to live an artist’s life?
If your answer to at least 3 or more questions, then, you certainly have a desire to be in this field.
Once you know your interest, then you should consider the following things:
Are you ready to devote time? Are you ready to sit in front of desktop or computer for longer periods of time? Will you be able to invest at least 3 to 4 years in developing skills and making a strong portfolio?
If answer is still yes, then you can plan your career in animation.
In Indian scenario, students face a significant challenge in finding their career. Society, parent, peers and many others affect your career choices. To begin in animation, it is good to start early. After 12th, you can go for various courses. See the image. There are four options which you can opt. You go for usual degree course, second, you go for BSc in animation, you go for Bachelor of fine arts, or you go for BTech or BCA. From each option, you can switch to animation. It is advised that if you have BFA and BTech in relevant field, you get better placements after you complete your animation course.

It should also be clear, even a arts background student with Hindi medium can also join these courses. But he or she should make greater efforts. The majority of softwares have English as their language.
Job Prospects and pay
“Job prospects for animators are rising at a very fast pace thanks to the boom in the entertainment and gaming industry. Animation with time has got a good hold over movies, television and advertising industries due to the excessive use of special effects. Full length animation movies are in great demand. A single animation film requires as many as 500 animators, which means huge employment opportunities. The starting pay package of these animators can be in a range or Rs.10,000 to Rs.15,000 per month. Within a span of three to five years you can become a senior animator and command a monthly salary as much as Rs.30,000 to Rs.40,000.”
